Early Vote Day Report: Day 14
Snapshot
After 14 days of early voting, North Carolinians have cast 2,150,025 ballots in person and by mail, 36% more than at the same point in 2022. 180,253 voted in person on Wednesday, 30% more than on 2022's fourteenth day of early voting (138,863). Democrats lead Republicans by 313,179 ballots, nearly three times their lead at this point in 2022 (113,061) and already more than double 2022's final early vote lead (147,251). On Wednesday, for the first time this early voting period, unaffiliated voters cast more ballots than Democrats (65,974 to 62,382), which never happened on any day of early voting in 2022. Republicans cast 30.3% of Wednesday's ballots, up from 19.9% on the first day but still below 2022's Wednesday (32.7%). The Democratic turnout edge widened to 13.4 points on Wednesday, from 13.2 after Tuesday: 36.7% of registered Democrats have voted, against 23.3% of registered Republicans. At this point in 2022 the gap was 2.0. If the last three days run like 2022's, Republicans would need to out-vote Democrats by more than 275,000 on Election Day to erase their ballot lead, 55% more than in 2022 (177,807).
